Professor Wang Banghu

Wang Banghu, born in November, 1950, Hefei, Anhui Province, was a professor,  a postgraduate tutor, and a public figure without party affiliation. In 1977, he graduated from the Chinese Language Department of Nanjing University , and then in September, 1985, he went to the United States to study sociology inUGA. From July 1999 (when the Department was founded) to the summer of 2011, he served as the dean of SociologyDepartment at Anhui University.Now he is the principal of masters degree of Sociology (first level discipline), a postgraduate tutor in sociology, cultural anthropology and demography. He is the directorof Population Research Institute, and the director of Research Center for Social Development in Rural Areas at Anhui University. He acts as a counselor for the Peoples Government of Anhui Province, a counselor for Committee for Social and Legal Affairs of Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference, a member of Sociology EducationAdvisory Boardof Ministry of Education. Besides, he holds the title of adjunct professor at Anhui Normal University and Anhui Agricultural University.

     He has published 12 treatises, compilations and translations, and more than 40 articles. He once won the first prize issued by the executive office of the State Council of China for the fifth national census data and the National Statistical Society, the third prize of the 7th national Statistical Science, the first prize for outstanding achievements in sociology research in Eastern China.  He has been appointed asThe First Reader of Journal Qiushi (Organ of the Central Committee of The Communist Party of China), specially-invited supervisorfor Building of the Party’s Style and of Clean Governance by Anhui Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection of CPC and Department of Supervision of Anhui Province. He presides over more than 10 national and provincial programs.
